Prior to becoming a UAS pilot, Tim spent 12 years in the Alabama Army National Guard, initially serving as an Infantryman, and worked up to becoming his Battalion's Electronic Warfare Non-Commissioned Officer. He first deployed to Kosovo, and then to Iraq, where he received the Combat Infantryman's Badge for his part in the conflict. His third deployment scheduled to Afghanistan was cut short due to an injury during training at Camp Shelby, and he left military service shortly thereafter with an Honorable Discharge.
Concurrently to his military service, Tim completed his college degrees in Business and Accounting during his military deployments, and later a degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management. He returned home to work in the cellular tower real estate industry. He developed his land survey skills while working as a Site Acquisition Specialist, finding property and negotiating land lease contracts with property owners for various tower corporations. Prior to starting Aerial Scouts, LLC, Tim worked for over five years as a Cell Site Property Manager for a Fortune 500 corporation. Following this, Tim served as a Principal R&D Engineer at Birdstop, Inc., contributing to the development of advanced airspace monitoring systems. These experiences provided the expertise and knowledge in both operational and safety aspects.
Tim has flown 250+ commercial flight hours with various UAS platforms in several different industries, ranging from 3D Photogrammetry (capture and creation), Real Estate Photography, Construction Evaluation, as well as Event Photography and Videography. He is currently expanding to include a new aspect of experimental LiDAR survey. Leveraging his diverse background, Tim now offers consultation services for organizations seeking to enhance their UAS operations, with a focus on safety, compliance, and efficient integration of UAS technology. He is both the CEO and primary Pilot In Command for Aerial Scouts, LLC. Tim is certified by the FAA to conduct commercial UAS operations in all 50 states.
